In a 2023 survey of Indian journalists, when asked to rate their sense of privacy - specifically regarding whether they felt their posts and activities on social media platforms were being monitored by unknown individuals, about 52 percent of female journalists and 37 percent of male journalists reported feeling extremely unsafe. Conversely, only seven percent of male journalists felt very safe, and no female journalists reported feeling very safe.
