In a 2023 online survey of journalists, approximately 80 percent of respondents felt that the Indian news media generally covers the Modi government too favourably. In contrast, only about eight percent believed that the coverage of the Modi government was balanced and fair. Additionally, the same survey revealed that journalists perceive a significant bias or favouritism towards one party in news coverage.
