At the end of 2022, around 381,400 foreign cross-border commuters were working in Switzerland. This was an increase compared to the previous year and a continuation of the growth trend.
Foreign cross-border commuters are employed persons of foreign nationality with a specific cross-border commuter permit who are in paid employment in Switzerland. Cross-border commuters must return to their main place of residence abroad at least once a week.
