The values were rounded. The shares and rates of change were calculated from the absolute values stated in the source.
According to the source, the results are subject to a certain degree of uncertainty. The coding of some variables is neither obligatory or subject to plausibility tests. Furthermore, some job changes are not necessarily reported and are only recorded in the register when the cross-border commuter permit is renewed, which may be reflected in the data on place of work, economic sector and, to a lesser extent, employment status.
Since 1 June 2007, nationals of EU-17/EFTA member states are no longer bound by border zones. This means that cross-border commuters can pursue gainful employment in all cantons.
