According to a survey of international visitors to New Zealand conducted in the first quarter of 2024, the country's landscapes and scenery was the leading factor drawing in international tourists, with around 40 percent of respondents indicating this. Visiting friends or relatives was the second-most prevalent aspect considered when deciding whether to visit New Zealand among international tourists. The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings movies were cited by around 12 percent of respondents as a key factor influencing their decision to travel to the country.
