In 2023, the recycling rate for plastic packaging in Sweden was 50 percent for businesses and 24 percent for households. Sweden's total recycling rate for plastic packaging increased by three percentage points year-on-year in 2023, to 36 percent. The government goal for total plastic packaging recycling by 2029 is 50 percent.

The source FTI, Förpacknings Insamlingen, has since the report been discontinued and now Näringslivets Producentansvar (NPA) has taken over the business and responsibility for packaging production.
