Most of the urban population in Africa lives in cities with over three million residents. As of 2020, those cities aggregated 161.6 million inhabitants. Areas with 30,000 to 100,000 people amounted to around 109 million individuals. As of the same year, the number of urban agglomerations across the continent increased significantly in comparison to 70 years before.
