Gourmet food was the product type Japanese consumers preferred to buy as luxury goods, according to a survey conducted in July 2024 by Rakuten Insight. While 24 percent of respondents showed a preference for gourmet foods bought as luxury goods, only nine percent preferred luxury wines and spirits.
