In July 2023, the European Union's (EU) imports of critical minerals from Russia amounted to approximately 420 million euros. In comparison, the EU's critical mineral imports from Russia amounted to 1.91 billion euros in March 2022, one month after the Russian invasion of Ukraine began.
Despite the sanctions on the importation of many kinds of goods from Russia since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, critical mineral imports have not been banned by the EU.
