During a global survey among chief marketing officers (CMOs) published in July 2024, almost two-thirds (or 65 percent) included investing in data analytics and insights to help inform their creatives among the leading future-predicting inputs. Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to predict changes in customer behaviors ranked second, mentioned by 59 percent, while social listening to proactively identify shifts in sentiment and behavior rounded up the top three, cited by 58 percent of respondents. According to the same study, nearly two-thirds of CMOs worldwide thought generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) will never replace human imagination.
