Salford was the metropolitan district in England with the highest number of housing unit additions per 1,000 dwellings in the financial year of 2022/23. Meanwhile, there were 8.8 houses added in London for each 1,000 dwellings already existing, which is a higher value than in Manchester, Leeds, and Birmingham. That means that the housing supply in the capital relative to the size of its housing stock increased at a faster pace than in the other major English cities.
