In September 2024, after weeks of waiting, President Emmanuel Macron nominated Michel Barnier, from Les Républicains, as the new Prime Minister, in charge of forming a new government. Despite the short win of the leftist coalition in the legislative elections of June 2024, the government nominated by Michel Barnier ended up being a coalition between Les Républiaincs and Macron's party Renaissance. Therefore, according to a survey conducted in September 2024, respondents affiliated with leftist parties were unsatisfied with the new government.
