As of June 2024, the vast majority of active funds did not manage to outperform a passive alternative. Less than 20 percent of global funds outperformed passive investments on a 10-year rate of return. This dropped to 15 percent on a five-year return rate. In the short term, the Asia Pacific (excluding Japan) had the best year-to-date performance, with over 60 percent of actively manged investment funds having outperformed a passive alternative.
