The Game Awards, held every December, are an annual event that honors noteworthy achievements in the world of video games. Games released before a specific date in November are eligible for a nomination, and winners are chosen by a mixed vote from a jury and fans. In 2024, Astro Bot won the Game of the Year award, as well as Best Game Direction, Best Action / Adventure Game, and Best Family Game, making the platform game also the most successful title of the night.
The Game Awards are immensely popular online, and the 2024 iteration of the show reached a livestream viewership of 154 million.
