Mexican steel scrap exports 2000-2021
In 2021, Mexican exports of steel scrap amounted to 607,000 metric tons. This is the second executive year that regional exports experienced a decline in the country due to the coronavirus pandemic. Steel scrap still holds value and is recycled and reused as often as possible. The scrap is collected from waste streams, wrecked automobiles, dismantled buildings, or other industrial sources, after which it is melted into new products.
