In the 2019-2020 TV season, the DMA (designated market area) with the most TV households in the United States was New York, with 6.82 million TV households. Ranking second, albeit far behind New York, was Los Angeles, with 5.15 million. Smaller markets like Phoenix, Tampa-St. Pete, Seattle-Tacoma, Detroit, and Minneapolis-St. Paul all had between 1.6 and 1.9 million television households each.
