Automobile production worldwide - Transmission forecast 2010-2015 The table shows a transmission forecast for automobile production worldwide from 2010 to 2015. More than half of all cars and light vehicles produced worldwide had a manual transmission in 2010 --- about 38.34 million. It is forecast that this number will increase to about 49.74 million automobiles in 2015. A manual transmission is a type of transmission used in motor vehicle applications. It generally uses a driver-operated clutch, for regulating torque transfer from the internal combustion engine to the transmission, and a gear stick.
