Due to travel restrictions relating to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, both 2020 and 2021 saw a significant drop in travel spending in the United States over 2019, dropping to 0.72 trillion U.S. dollars and 0.91 trillion U.S. dollars, respectively. Travel spending grew to 1.02 trillion U.S. dollars in 2022, and that figure was forecast to reach 1.2 trillion by 2026.
