The United States imported some 25.3 billion cubic feet of liquefied natural gas in 2022. This was an increase compared to the previous year, when 21.6 billion cubic feet had been imported. However, when looking at imports in the early 200s, figures have decreased significantly following the commercialization of shale mining. Trinidad and Tobago, home to one of the largest LNG plants in the world, was the main supplier of LNG to the U.S.
