Peabody Energy Corp was the leading coal producer in the United States in 2022, with a 17.2 percent share of the total coal production in the U.S. that year. Arch Resources and Navajo Transitional Energy ranked second and third, with a production of 13.2 and 8.6 percent of the total coal U.S. production, respectively that year.
