The annual number of employees at General Electric fluctuated between 2006 and 2023. In 2023, General Electric employed around 125,000 people worldwide, representing a 27 percent decline in employment level compared to the previous year.

In 2017, the diversified infrastructure and financial services corporation employed around 313,000 people worldwide. This number was greatly reduced in 2019 following poorly performing years. Job losses were seen in many countries, including the United States and France. The firm’s aviation segment raked in the most revenue. Following a tax hike in its home state, the formerly Connecticut-headquartered company decided to move its home base to Boston to keep payments in check.
