Farms in the United States
There were just over two million farms in the United States as of 2018. In 2017 there were about 2.2 million farms in the United States and there has been a steady downward trend in the number of farms ever since. The vast majority of the farms in the United States are located in the state of Texas. Missouri came in second place among the leading ten states.
Major crops in the United States
The United States has a very diverse range of climates, physical terrains, and natural resources. As a result, the ecosystem of the United States can support a variety of different crops. In 2018, about 14.4 billion bushels of corn for grain were harvested in the United States. Soybeans are another major crop produced in the U.S., and one which has exhibited an upward trend in production volume over the last several years.
