Number of available rooms in Las Vegas 2000-2022

In 2022, Las Vegas had 150,857 available lodging rooms, up from the previous year’s total of 150,487 rooms. Since 2015 room availability in this internationally famous resort city remained between 14.7 to 14.9 thousand. The year 2021 was the first year in which the number of available rooms exceeded 150,000.

COVID-19’s Impact on Las Vegas hotel industry

Las Vegas is very popular with leisure travelers from all around the globe, many of them visiting the city for its world-famous casinos. However, visitation figures were significantly impacted by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in 2020. In that year, the number of visitors to Las Vegas declined to a staggering 19 million from over 42 million the previous year. In effect, this led to a massive drop in hotel occupancy and a slight drop in the cost per night of accommodation in Las Vegas. In 2022, these categories had more or less returned to normal.

With gambling, fine dining, shopping and nightlife serving as the main attractions of Las Vegas, the resort city is also a center for business meetings and conventions. Nonetheless, gambling still is the city’s most important economic sector. A survey conducted in mid-2021 found that 76 percent of respondents gambled while visiting Las Vegas.
