General Motors generated some 147 billion U.S. dollars in revenue during the 2018 fiscal year. GM’s revenue grew by almost 1.5 million U.S. dollars over the previous fiscal year in spite of a decline in overall vehicle sales and also higher cost of sales. The company’s adjusted earnings before interests and taxes dropped to about 11.8 billion U.S. dollars in the 2018 fiscal year.
Higher profitability leads to higher revenue
General Motors has been selling more of its large pickups lately, and it is estimated that these vehicles generate at least 17,000 U.S. dollars each in pre-tax profit for the company. The higher profitability of larger light vehicles are believed to have boosted GM’s sales figures. The company sold about 8.4 million vehicles in the fiscal year of 2018, almost 3.5 million of which went to customers in North America, while car shoppers in the Asia-Pacific region snapped up some 4.2 million vehicles sold under one of GM’s eight brands.
