According to the statistic shown, almost 1.5 billion cell phones have been produced in China in 2020. China has been one of the leading cell phone manufacturing countries in the world and may continue to develop steadily in the near future. In addition to its established status as a manufacturing country for mobiles, China’s domestic mobile phone market has become one of the largest cell phone markets in the world.
As of 2020, around 130 million units of smartphones were shipped quarterly. However, total smartphone shipments started dropping in the last few years with around 326 million units of smartphones shipped in China in the same year.
The number of cell phone subscribers in China had reached about 1.6 billion in February 2021, displaying a growth momentum of a few million subscribers each month, which was hit hard by coronavirus at the beginning of 2020. Meanwhile, the number of fixed telephone lines had decreased to about 182 million in June 2021, marking a cutback of about eight million subscriptions over the past 12 months. In terms of operating systems, Android and iOS had maintained their tight grip on the market with a mobile phone operating system market share of over 76 and 22 percent in China as of March 2021.
