Twitter: data removal requests from countries and institutions H1 2019

Between January and June 2019, Turkish courts submitted 388 content removal requests to the microblogging platform Twitter. In total, courts submitted 1,243 removal requests. Another 17,510 removal requests were made from other governments agencies, law enforcement, and other authorized reporters. Japan, Turkey, and Russia accounted for 80 percent of removal requests in the reported period. Russia and Turkey are ranked very low in terms of internet and press freedom.
