Between July and December 2018, Turkish courts submitted 597 content removal requests to the microblogging platform Twitter. In total, courts submitted 1,139 removal requests. Another 10,082 removal requests were made from other governments agencies, law enforcement, and other authorized reporters. Turkey and Russia accounted for 74 percent of removal requests in the reported period. Both countries are ranked very low in terms of internet and press freedom.
