The statistic shows the ten largest global private equity transactions as of June 2012. Private equity is the over the counter provision of equity capital through private or institutional investors, with the partpicipation of company for a limited time in order to generate a financial return. In 2007, American financial investor Blackstone overtook the Hilton Hotel group. The value of this private equity deal amounted to approximately 26 billion U.S. dollars.
