This statistic shows the share of 3 to 4 year olds in different states across the United States who were enrolled in kindergarten as of 2010. States where there is a policy that states attendance is required are marked with a star(*). In Alabama, 45.6 percent of 3 to 4 year olds were enrolled in kindergarten in 2010, as compared to 73.3 percent in the District of Columbia, where attendance is required.
