The furniture and home goods retailer IKEA had a global net income of approximately 287 million euros in the financial year 2022, marking a substantial decrease from the previous years. The company’s net income peaked in FY 2016 at 4.2 billion euros but has fluctuated since then.

The Swedish furniture company IKEA was founded in 1943 as a mail-order catalogue before opening its first retail location; it has since made a name for itself as an affordable, modern, and stylish furniture retailer, with a global presence. In 2020, IKEA Group’s annual revenue amounted to 39.6 billion euros, down from 41.3 billion euros in the previous year. Despite exhibiting consistent growth over the last two decades, sales in 2020 were slightly affected mainly due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.

In the financial year of 2020, online sales represented 16 percent of the total retail sales of IKEA. The company's web site ikea.com received four billion visitors in 2020, increasing over one billion clicks compared to the previous year. Regardless of being one of the leading furniture and home furnishing retailers in the world, IKEA's online segment only represented two percent of the leading online furniture retailers market share in the United States. In this case, Amazon and Wayfair had the largest share, with 30 percent, and 33 percent, respectively.
