Hyundai and Kia are both South Korean motor vehicle companies. The Hyundai Motor Company was founded in 1967 and incorporated part of the Kia Motors Corporation when Kia filed for bankruptcy. Customer satisfaction with the Hyundai brand has remained relatively stable within the United States in recent history. The United States is also part of the largest regional market for Kia: around 678,500 Kia vehicles were sold here in 2022.

Hyundai’s track record of customer satisfaction has contributed to its parent company regaining market shares in the past years. Between 2011 and 2017, the company experienced a decrease of over one percent market share in the United States. As of 2022, the manufacturer held some 10 percent of the U.S. light vehicle market and remained one of the top 10 automobile manufacturers in the country.
