Vehicle sales of European car brands in the United States 2019 In April 2019, Volkswagen was the best-selling European car brand in the United States. Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz edged past BMW to become the second best-selling European car brand in the United States. Global car sales are expected to be around 79 million units by the end of 2019.
Car sales in the United States

Out of European car brands, BMW sold the highest number of cars in the United States in the first four months of 2019. However, this figure was much lower than the number of light vehicles sold by Asian or North American car brands. The Ford Motor Company sold some 562,000 light vehicles under its namesake Ford brand in the first quarter of 2019, the highest number out of all car brands in the United States. However, it was Toyota that was the leading Asian car brand in the United States in March 2019 based on number of vehicles sold.
