A credit card is a a very convenient method of payment. It allows the cardholder to borrow money to pay for goods and services at the point of sale and repay the debt at a later date. Financial institutions which issue credit cards, usually banks, charge an interest rate for lending the money. In the fourth quarter of 2016, there were 453.07 million credit card accounts in the United States.
