About This Statistic
This statistic presents data on the number of Netflix streaming subscribers in the United States from the third quarter of 2011 to the second quarter of 2017. In the second quarter of 2017, Netflix had 51.92 million U.S. subscribers. The subscriber base in the United States accounts for almost half of Netflix's worldwide streaming subscriber base, as the global number in the second quarter of 2017 stood at 103.95 million.
Furthermore, as the number of streaming subscribers in the United States has grown, the number of DVD subscribers has sharply declined. At the beginning of 2012, this number stood at over 10 million, but it fell below four million for the first time in the first quarter of 2017.
