In 2022, Hong Kong SAR had the highest non-resident share of patent applications at 97.9 percent. Mexico and Australia followed behind with non-resident shares of 94.1 and 92.4 percent, respectively. Out of the top 20 national patent offices, France had the lowest non-resident share of applications at 9.3 percent.
