This statistic shows a distribution of the type of search terms used by vehicle purchasers during the first search query they performed while vehicle shopping in the United States in 2010. According to the source, 43 percent of purchasers started their online research by searching the name of a competitor brand, and 20 percent started their online research by searching the name of the brand that they eventually purchased.
