This statistic presents the results of an interview conducted by the Gallup Organization from January 1 to June 27, 2013. More than 36,000 U.S. adults were polled if they have struggled to afford food in the past 12 months. Some 22 percent of respondents living in a household with one child reported to have had trouble paying to eat in the past year. The results showed that food insecurity increases with three, four or more children in the household.
