About This Statistic
This statistic shows the 20 countries with the biggest inequality in income distribution in 2015 based on the Gini index. The income Gini coefficient measures the deviation of the distribution of income (or consumption) among individuals or households within a country from a perfectly equal distribution. A value of 0 represents absolute equality, a value of 100 absolute inequality. In 2015, South Africa had the highest inequality in income distribution with 63.4 point.
