
Usage of free news worldwide 2020
According to the results of a global survey on news consumption, news audiences in Hungary and Russia were the least likely to pay for news, with 79 percent of respondents in each country admitting that they only accessed news content which was freely available. Australian and British consumers were also more inclined to read free news content than pay for it, whereas less than 60 percent of those in Germany, India, South Africa, China, and Malaysia said that they exclusively read news they did not have to pay for.
