Milk production and uses
In the 2020/21 fiscal year, 15 billion liters of milk were produced in the United Kingdom. Production previously peaked in 2019/20 at 14.9 billion liters. Approximately 4.3 billion liters of milk were used in the production of cheese in 2017, with 6.7 billion liters used for liquid milk.
Expenditure and sales
Liquid milk market expenditure has been gradually increasing monthly since August 2017, rising from 3.2 billion GBP to 3.4 billion by December 2018. Semi-skimmed milk is the most popular pasteurized liquid milk in Great Britain, with a retail sales volume of 2.9 billion million liters sold as of the period ending October 7, 2018.
