In 2019 there were approximately 3.37 thousand high schools in England, just over five hundred of these full or operating above their capacity, compared with 2.86 thousand schools that were under-capacity. Compared with 2010, there has been a net increase in under-capacity schools and an decrease in those that are over-capacity.
