In the fourth quarter of 2023, the retail revenues generated by SMS and MMS messages in the United Kingdom (UK) amounted to 114 million British pounds (GBP). Since 2012 the revenues have decreased, with two larger drops. The first significant drop was in the first quarter of 2013 when it dropped from 589 million GBP in the last quarter of 2012 to 420 million GBP, and the second significant drop was in the first quarter of 2015 when it fell from 314 million GBP in the last quarter of 2014 to 193 GBP.
