**Between 2008 and 2009 Lloyds Banking Group, the Royal Bank of Scotland Group and HBOS plc were reclassified from the private sector to the public sector.
***In 2011 ASHE replaced the Standard Occupational Classification 2000 (SOC 2000) with the Standard Occupational Classification 2010 (SOC 2010). The change to SOC 2010 has affected the survey is weighting. The overall proportions of employees in the private sector with a pension has changed (by less than one percentage point) as a result of this adjustment.
