U.S. consumers' brand type preference of fresh meat and poultry purchases 2017

This statistic shows the results of a survey conducted in December 2017. Some 1,500 U.S. consumers were asked if they prefer national or private label/store brands when purchasing fresh meat and poultry. During the survey, approximately 20 percent of respondents indicated that they had a preference for national brands.
National brands are brand-name products that are distributed throughout the country. In contrast, there are private label/store brands, which are only carried in specific retailer stores or chains. These retailers are solely responsible across the whole supply chain for the private label/store brands marketed under their roof.
