Gaming penetration in the United Kingdom (UK) 2013-2018, by demographic group

In 2018, the largest share of game players in the United Kingdom (UK) were young adults, aged between 16 and 24. That year, console and computer gaming penetration rate stood at 38 percent, up from 34 percent in 2010.

Video games industry in the UK

As of 2018, consumers spent over two billion British pounds on digital and online games in the UK. In regard to the annual contribution of the video games industry to the UK Gross Domestic Product, it amounted to 1.8 million British pounds in 2018.

Mobile Games

The popularity of mobile gaming increased over the last decade and overtook games consoles and TV for the first time in 2014. As of 2018, over a fifth of respondents reported playing games on their mobile phone, an increase compared to the two years previous, but less than 2014 and 2015.
