This statistic shows the percentage of vehicles speeding on non built up roads in the Great Britain in 2016, as an hourly average throughout the day. Motorways were more dangerous at night when a higher percentage of vehicles exceeded the speed limit. Single carriageways, on the other hand, saw little variation in the average percentage of vehicles speeding throughout the day, apart from a higher percentage of speeding vehicles between 12am and 6am on single carriageways.
In 2016, the share of vehicles exceeding the speed limit on motorways at midnight reached 51 percent, while at noon 46 percent of vehicles on motorways exceeded the speed limit.
