Number of suicide fatalities on railways in Great Britain 2001-2020

The number of railway fatalities caused by suicides in Great Britain increased from 192 fatalities in 2001/02, to 283 fatalities in 2019/20. Although this is an increase over the 19 years in question, the number of fatalities recorded in 2017/18 were the second lowest at any time since 2011/12. In 2018/19 there were 311 deaths on railways, which was an increase compared to the previous three years.
