Proprietary club prices were the highest on average at 5.37 British pounds a measure, followed by hotels at 5.02 British pounds. The amount of duty applied to a glass of table wine has increased year on year in the United Kingdom, with the highest off-trade prices found in the South of the country. In terms of on-trade alcohol consumption, beer is the preferred beverage of choice, followed by wine. Wine has, however, experienced a surge in popularity, which has seen it take a large share of beer sales. On-trade consumption of wine is predominantly done in managed pubs, while it is the alcoholic beverage of choice for off-trade consumption.
