Opinion on pregnant women around cats in the U.S. 2014
This statistic depicts the opinion of U.S. responders on whether or not pregnant women should be around cats. Based on this survey, 55 percent of respondents deemed it okay for pregnant women to be around cats. Cats can spread toxoplasmosis in their feces by eating infected rodents, birds, or other small animals. Possible exposure can occur by touching of the mouth after changing a litter box or gardening without gloves. Raw meat should also be avoided to prevent toxoplasmosis in pregnant women.
