Scotland: welfare benefits decision power survey

This statistic shows a distribution of respondents to a survey question designed to find out who those residing in Scotland think should have the power to make decisions regarding the level of welfare benefits. In January 2013, the majority (57 percent) of respondents stated that they think the Scottish Parliament should have this power. With the referendum on Scottish independence looming, when Scotland will vote 'yes' or 'no' for independence from the United Kingdom, this apparent desire for political autonomy could well prove decisive. That said, the polls generally show that most are in favour of staying a part of the United Kingdom.
