Thyroid cancer mortality per incidence ratio in England 2016, by region and gender
This statistic shows the rate of mortality to thyroid cancer incidence in England in 2016, by region and gender. The thyroid is a gland located in the neck. Cancer of the thyroid occurs when cells within the thyroid begin to grow abnormally. In the South West of England in this year, 23 percent of males and 11 percent of females died as a result of thyroid cancer, this was the highest recorded rate among males. In the East midlands 13 percent of females diagnosed died as a result of cancer of the thyroid, this was the highest recorded rate among females in England in 2016.
